Pioneer or Partner? Working with the Indigenous Church in Cross-Cultural Ministries

Presented by Dr. Malcolm Hartnell, Phoenix Seminary

Synopsis: We have all heard the stories of the brave missionary trudging into the jungles alone, or maintaining a covert existence in a Creative Access Nation. But is this model really the most ef-fective way to be obedient to the Great Commission? God has blessed the Protestant missionary movement so abundantly in the past 200 years that there are now indigenous churches throughout the world that Western missionaries can work with in order to reach most of the unreached.

Yet many Western missionaries continue to work in isolation. Why is this? Let’s explore the Bible, ourselves, and the contemporary mission scene to find answers and solutions to this question.
