Presented by Erik Fish, Campus Church
Synopsis: An MIT student in Boston baptizes a freshman from Swaziland – in a dormitory shower!
A Law Student from Washington University meets weekly with Chinese international students who had never heard the gospel.
A suicidal student from Columbia University in NYC confesses Christ as Lord, is set free from oppression and is baptized by three other students!
A Native American student at Haskell University walks to the Pow Wow ceremonial grounds on campus and surrenders his life to Christ.
A UCLA international student starts teaching English in the International Student Center. His first day, he gets contacts from 8 countries, including China, Japan, Congo, Serbia, and Croatia in order to start simple churches among international students.
Two Christian students start attending the Lesbian-gay club on campus, to bring the love of Christ where He was not named.
Christians often get intimidated by non-Christians. We feel pressure to argue. We feel pressure to prove the Bible’s validity. We fear rejection. We forget what Jesus was like. Often times, we make things more complicated than they need to be. In the Bible, Jesus is often seen spending time with people who didn’t feel comfortable in the religious community of the day – and they loved hanging out with Him. Can we be faithful to the gospel and still reflect this characteristic of Jesus today on our campuses? Yes! Through stories and practical inspiration, we will discuss how you can reach and disciple non-Christian communities on your campus through evangelism and simple church planting.
Bio: Erik Fish really, really likes non-Christians. As the National Team Leader for Campus Church Networks, he directs this passion for the lost by training students to plant simple churches among non-Christian communities on college campuses. He also serves on the Campus America team (24-7 Prayer) as the leader of the Wilder Project. He describes the Wilder Project as “a ridiculous plan to mobilize traveling teams to every college campus in America in the next two years, mobilizing prayer, evangelism, and missions.”
Erik and his wife Jen have four children and live in Lawrence, KS where they have been working this last year among Native American students at Haskell University. Email wilder@campusamerica.org for more information.
