What’s Pioneers learning about post-modern Europe?

Pioneers

Session 1
Title: The 40/80 window: the Dark Continent of Europe
Objective: help students gain a basic understanding of the grip that post-modernism, materialism and atheism has on modern Europe, the challenge of reaching immigrants and refugees there and the encouraging advancements seen in a few places.

Summary: Long a Christian continent, and the birthplace of the modern missions movement, Europe must now be considered a mission-field unto itself. Stories, statistics and trends will be shared to illustrate both the unique challenges to ministering to Europeans and immigrants and the wonderful opportunities and joys of laboring there.

Session 2
Title: Leadership that Doesn’t Stink
Objective: the future leaders of churches, mission agencies and teams will be challenged to lead after the model of David … by grace and with confidence.

Summary: the bigger and more diverse a team gets, the harder it is to lead, and our temptation as leaders is to take the easy way out. When we do this, however, we very often stifle the growth of our teams and choke the life out of the people we lead. We ought to look at David’s example … how he suffered under the leadership of Saul, blazed a new path in his own leadership and handled the rebellion of Absalom.

24-7 Prayer USA and Communion

24-7 Prayer USA

Join us to explore a word from God to Pete Greig of 24-7 Prayer, to “Call Campus America to pray”. The vision is to create sacred space for every student in the United States to experience the presence of Jesus, through a one-year initiative of night-and-day prayer across Campus America in 2009-2010. God wants His universities back, and He gives us the privilege of playing a part in this dream. Come dialogue about how prayer - the core of all else – might explode on your campus, in your state, and in our nation. This is about Jesus being glorified

Speaker Bio - Wendy Andrews

Wendy Andrews hails from Madison, Wisconsin, where she earned a degree in Social Welfare and served for 3 years coordinating a discipleship training community at a thriving young church. Early in 2005, God led Wendy into the wildfire movement of 24-7 Prayer in the USA, helping to catalyze prayer across the country. Based in Kansas City and part of the Boiler Room church community there, Wendy gives the majority of her time to Campus America, an initiative to see 24-7 prayer hit every campus in America. Her focus is building the Campus America team, networking & connecting, and communicating God’s dream for Campus America. She loves East Asia and the ghetto and hopes to live in both places someday.

Speaker Bio - Erik Fish:

Erik Fish really, really likes non-Christians. As the National Team Leader for Campus Church Networks, he directs this passion for the lost by training students to plant simple churches among non-Christian communities on college campuses. He also serves on the Campus America team (24-7 Prayer) as the leader of the Wilder Project. He describes the Wilder Project as “a ridiculous plan to mobilize traveling teams to every college campus in America in the next two years, mobilizing prayer, evangelism, and missions.”

Erik and his wife Jen have four children and live in Lawrence, KS where they have been working this last year among Native American students at Haskell University. Email wilder@campusamerica.org for more information.

Student Volunteer Movement and Commission

December 10, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Student Volunteer Movement 2 is an international network of students, leaders, churches and organizations serving a grassroots mission movement among today’s emerging generation toward the fulfillment of the great commission in our lifetime.

About SVM2
The hearts of students have beat with the vision of SVM2 for generations. Leaders and young adults across the globe have been crying out for a movement. SVM2 has emerged out of the void of a common cross-cultural ministry emphasis among the younger generation, giving a unified voice to the passion of thousands.

Vision

*Just imagine … a generation of young adults whose hearts are completely His and who have set aside their own ambitions to obey God’s call.
*Just imagine … a hundred thousand young adults encompassing the earth for two or more years empowered by the Holy Spirit to reach the forgotten.
*Just imagine … students fervently influencing their peers toward the global purpose of God becoming a priority.
*God is calling this generation to a higher standard in the pursuit of His heart for the forgotten.

Speaker Bio - Paul Van Der Werf:

Paul Van Der Werf caught a vision for the least reached peoples globally after going on a short term mission trip in college.  Since then he’s lived and ministered in the Red Light District of Amsterdam and in a border town in Mexico and has traveled to over 39 countries.  He’s passionate about college students going after their dreams and finding the place where their passions intersect with God’s global dream.  He currently is based in Washington DC where you can most often find him biking around the White House, playing a pickup game of Ultimate or sipping a home-made soy latte and reading a book.
